Braves Pitchers and Catchers Report Today

Little over six weeks until the Braves open against the Phillies

Even though the winter rain keeps falling in Georgia, and spring still appears a ways away, the Atlanta Braves pitchers and catchers reported today to the Braves Disney World complex, and isn’t it great that baseball is getting started.

New Braves Justin Upton and Chris Johnson were among those who checked in, and started working out today. Good sign when newly acquired, veteran players, are motivated and looking to lead by example.

There won’t be much intrigue in this year’s Atlanta Braves spring training, as most positions are already decided.  The third base battle between Chris Johnson, and Juan Francisco, will draw scrutiny, and a few bench positions but other than that it should be a quiet spring.

”If everything falls right and everybody is doing what they’re supposed to be doing, to worry about the No. 8 spot in the lineup and the third base platoon situation, that’s not bad at all, really,” Gonzalez said.

Hopefully the injury bug will fly over the Braves complex and head elsewhere.  GM Frank Wren has worked long and hard putting this talented core group together, and this team is championship caliber with a healthy roster.
