The Washington Nationals won their fifth straight last night as they beat the Chicago Cubs 7-3 at Nationals Park, and coupled with the Braves 8-2 loss to the Giants, the Nationals have closed within a game of the National League Eastern Division race. The Braves have held sole possession of first place since April 7.
The Nationals are finally starting to show some Nattitude.
Normally May is way to early to be watching the standings, but with the high-powered Nationals team it is imperative that the Braves play solid ball throughout the season, and not let the Nationals open a lead. The rear view mirror is a nice place for the Braves to view the Nats.
Since the Braves 12-1 start, they have gone 9-13 and 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Nationals have won 7 of their last 10.
The Nationals will send their big right-hander, Stephen Strasburg, to the hill against the Cubs at 4:05 ET, as they look to gain a tie with the Braves in the standings.
