Braves Star Undergoes Elbow Surgery

UlnarAtlanta Braves left-handed reliever, Jonny Venters, underwent Tommy John surgery today, and will be out for the rest of the 2013 season.

The procedure was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Gulf Breeze, Florida, and is designed to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament.

This is the second time that the 28-year old Venters has had Tommy John surgery.  The first procedure was performed by Dr. Andrews on October 11, 2005.

Venters started feeling soreness in spring training and did not appear in a game this season.  He has had a 3-year major league career, all with the Braves, and at times has been close to un-hittable with his mid-90s sinking fastball.
